Halloween Card

This is a card I made for a challenge on the YouTube channel of Gloria (Spyrorocks346) to celebrate her two year anniversary as a YouTube contributor. She gave us a sketch (mojomonday.blogspot.com) week 120 as a card design reference. Because the challenge is in October, I decided to make a Halloween card for the challenge.

DSCF5216
This is a 6 X 6 inch card

I used the Cricut Happy Hauntings cartridge for many of the diecuts(witch, bats, frame, and pumpkin), Martha Stewart Creepy Fence punch(fence) and Alterations Tim Holtz Tapered Fringe die(grass). The papers used are LYB Boo Ville(purple paper), Bazzill Basic Witchy Poo Shoe(witches shoes), Recollections(Orange Pinstripe), Paper Layerz(pumpkin) and other paper from my stash.

DSCF5217
The witch and the bats were enhanced with Black Diamond Stickles(Ranger). A little bling Jewel Stickers(LYB) was added as well.

DSCF5219

Glossy Accents(Ranger) was used on the frame. The sentiment(craftsmart) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the reverse side of the piece cut from the frame.

DSCF5220
Black Diamond Stickles was used for the pumpkins facial features.

Birthday Cards

Between November 11th and December 9th there are five birthdays in my family. I managed to get the five cards made and mailed or given to the recipients. This was not an easy fete to accomplish, Because I had been away at a four day crop the first weekend in November, went on a 10 day vacation that included a 7 day Caribbean cruise. Came home in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with two daughters, two grandsons and a sister. Then proceeded to get a sinus and upper respiratory infection.
So I am not going to give the detail I usually put into this blog. I just had to get these four cards posted before too much time had gone by.

Two of the birthdays( my youngest sister and my son-in-law) were on November 11th. I made a Z card for my sister and wrote a previous blog all about it.

This 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 card for my son-in-law is one I had partially made while making another card in March. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the front, then I sanded it to help the embossing stand out more. Gave it a little more detail with faux white stitching. The inside was finished by adding a mat, a band and a quote.

My youngest daughter /child celebrated her 40th birthday on Thanksgiving Day by running in a five mile race. It was freezing cold that day in Connecticut, but it was a lot of fun watching the race, because the participants dressed in costumes.
Her 6 X 6 card was made using DCWV Butterfly Garden stack and AC Cardstock for the base. The sentiment on the inside is a Recollections acrylic stamp.

Added Imaginisce I Rock pearls to the centers of the flowers and gem to jeweled strand. Stickles were used on the earrings, necklace and the strand.
The lacy border on the outside as well as the inside are Martha Stewart Vintage Doily punch.
The sentiment on the front is a Sylvia Yu rubber stamp. The sentiment on the inside is a Fiskars acrylic stamp. It was shaped and matted using two different sizes of Spellbinders Labels 18 dies.

Blue Tow Truck Birthday Card

My youngest grandson celebrated his 8th birthday this week, so I made this tow truck birthday card for him.

DSCF2512

This shaped card was made from the Cricut Nate’s ABCs cartridge(page 35) with the “birthday” from the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge(page 27) weld onto the hook using the Provocraft Gypsy and cut using the Provocraft Expression. It is a large card. The tow truck is 9.78 X 5.99 and the “birthday is 3.63 X 1.82. The hubcaps and “8” are adhered to both sides of the card.

To make the shaped tow truck I weld the truck roofs of two trucks together using the weld feature of the Gypsy. And I weld the “birthday” to another single tow truck. All the edges were inked with Distress Ink(tea dye or stormy sky).

DSCF2516
After cutting the pieces the welded truck was folded. A windowpane was cut with scissors by hand from the acetate wrapping used for cartridge packing. Then the windowpane was glued between the welded truck and the truck with the birthday” welded truck. The chipboard “8” was adhered with ATG adhesive.

DSCF2520
The “birthday” was blinged with Dark Blue stickles.

DSCF2521
The door handle and the hood vents are drawn with Black Diamond stickles.
The tires were painted black with a black Sharpie. The hubcaps were yellow plastic washer like disks. I used Sail Boat Blue alcohol ink to change them to blue. They were attached to the card with ATG adhesive.

Bunny Tag

This is my interpretation of Tim Holtz’s tag of the month.

DSCF2488-001

I started by cutting a 6.5 X 3.5 tag from the Cricut Picturesque cartridge(page 76) with The Paper Company cardstock using the Gypsy and Expression. Using the ink applicator the following distress inks were applied to the tag: spiced marmalade, mustard seed, wild honey, shaded lilac, and ripe persimmon. Then using a mini mister the tag was misted with water and dried with a heat tool.

With the Tim Holtz Vagabond, I cut using the TH Sizzix Alterations Bunny, Butterfly & Bow diecut  the bunny and TH Sizzix Alterations Tapered Fringe diecut the grass.

Tim Holtz Lost & Found paper was used for the rabbit and Tim Holtz Seasonal paper was used for the grass. The edges of all the cut pieces were inked with  Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. The bow was blinged with Glam Pink Stickles.

DSCF2492-001

The eggs are the dots from the Tim Holtz ideaology digits & punctuation grungeboard. I painted them with Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers(Pink Sherbet, Butterscotch, Sail Boat Blue, Wild Plum).

DSCF2491-001

Tim Holtz Ripe Persimmon Distress ink was used to stamp the “Easter” then it was heat embossed. The cute bunny sticker is form the Tim Holtz Salvage Stickers. The ribbon is something I have in my stash.
The bunny is adhered with foam squares to give it some elevation. A small piece of cotton was added to give him a fuzzy tail.

Cupid Valentine

For my four daughters I made this Valentine card.
The 6 1/2 X 5 Halcraft Greeting Card was used as the card base. I cut the corners with a Fiskars 3 way corner punch. AC Cardstock was used for all of the cuts on the front of the card.
Using the largest(4 1/4 inches) Spellbinders Heart Squares the mat was cut using the Tim Holtz Vagabond machine. Cupid(2 3/4 inches), layer and the shadow were cut with the Cricut Expression using the Sweethearts cartridge(page 33). The heart held by Cupid is embellished with Christmas Red Stickles. The mat was adhered to the card base with foam squares and Cupid was adhered to the mat with foam squares as well.
The band was made using the Martha Stewart Linked Trim punch and ribbon from Michaels was threaded through and made tied into a bow that is held in place with a mini GlueDot.
The sentiment using the Jasmine cartridge was welded with the Gypsy machine and cut with the Cricut Expression machine.
The sentiment on the inside of the card was found on the internet. I printed it on Georgia Pacific cardstock. I cut it into the heart shape using a Fiskars Shaper Template. I inked the edges with Colorbox Warm Red. Some of the hearts that were cut out of the mat on the front and the arrow is left over from the Cupid layer cut.
