Patchwork Birthday Card

DSCF4837
This is a card I made for my sister Joan. She is three years younger than I, but we share the same birthday.
The card is 6 X 6 inch. I chose the printed papers from daisyd’s cardstock Sweet Baby Jane 8 X 8 inch pad.

2 X 8 inch strip of the printed paper

DSCF4818
Cut the 2 X 8 inch  strips on an angle at opposite corners to form triangles.

DSCF4819
I used the Xyron 900 to apply adhesion to the triangle pieces.

DSCF4820
Using a piece of Georgia Pacific cardstock cut 6 X 6 inch as a base pencil mark the center of the sheet.

DSCF4821
Starting at one corner of the base adhere the first triangle with the tip placed at the center point of the base.

DSCF4822
Continue adhering all the triangles to completely cover the base.

Using scissors or paper trimmer cut off the excess paper from the base.

Used Bazzill cardstock for the card. Adhered a 5 3/4 inch piece of printed paper using ATG adhesive. Made a 5 3/4 X 2 1/2 inch decorative strip using the Martha Stewart Swirling Lace punch.

Cupid Valentine

For my four daughters I made this Valentine card.
The 6 1/2 X 5 Halcraft Greeting Card was used as the card base. I cut the corners with a Fiskars 3 way corner punch. AC Cardstock was used for all of the cuts on the front of the card.
Using the largest(4 1/4 inches) Spellbinders Heart Squares the mat was cut using the Tim Holtz Vagabond machine. Cupid(2 3/4 inches), layer and the shadow were cut with the Cricut Expression using the Sweethearts cartridge(page 33). The heart held by Cupid is embellished with Christmas Red Stickles. The mat was adhered to the card base with foam squares and Cupid was adhered to the mat with foam squares as well.
The band was made using the Martha Stewart Linked Trim punch and ribbon from Michaels was threaded through and made tied into a bow that is held in place with a mini GlueDot.
The sentiment using the Jasmine cartridge was welded with the Gypsy machine and cut with the Cricut Expression machine.
The sentiment on the inside of the card was found on the internet. I printed it on Georgia Pacific cardstock. I cut it into the heart shape using a Fiskars Shaper Template. I inked the edges with Colorbox Warm Red. Some of the hearts that were cut out of the mat on the front and the arrow is left over from the Cupid layer cut.

Inside of the Cards
Two of my daughters were born in January six years and five days apart. Their favorite colors are purple for the oldest and green for the younger. So every year I incorporate the colors into their cards.

The birthday cake(Imagine Yummy cartridge) and the cupcake(Imagine Better Together) were printed and cut as individual pieces using the Cricut Imagine diecutting machine. All edges of the cut pieces were inked using Colorbox ink. Some of the pieces were embellished with Ranger Stickles. The layers of the cake and cupcake were adhered together using a Zig 2 Way pen and then were attached to the cards with foam popups.

The doily was cut using the new Martha Stewart Circular edge punch, cut in half and inked. The Recollection sentiment was stamped using Memory ink. The corners of the cards were cut using the We R Memory Keepers 1/4 Chromper.

The doily band on the inside of the cards were made with the Martha Stewart Doily Lace Trim punch, also inked their edges. They were only adhered at the ends so a gift card or check could be slipped behind them.
