Alphabet Book for Malia

I decided to make an alphabet book for my one year old great granddaughter, Malia Rose using the letters of her name. The base of each page was cut from cereal boxes using the Cricut Expression with the deep blade and housing. (blade 4, pressure 6, multicut 2).  The rectangle with rounded corners were taken from the Cricut George &  Basic Shapes cartridge. The letters, phrases and images are found on the Kate's ABCs cartridge.
The pages are nine(9) inches long by five(5) to seven point twenty five(7.25) inches in quarter(1/4) inch increments wide. The alphabet letters used were welded to the base using the Provocraft Gypsy.

DCWV pastel cardstock and DCWV dots, stripes and plaids cardstock were cut using the same designs as the base using the Expression with the regular blade and housing( blade 6, pressure 6, multicut 2). NOTE: for the dots, stripes and plaids used for the reverse side of the page all the pages must be flipped in the Gypsy. The paper was run through the nine inches Xyron to be applied to the page base.

To obtain the full alphabet letter on each page: one set in pastel dots were cut for the page and one set in pale yellow were cut in reverse(flipped) for the other side of the page. They were glued to their respective pages using the Zig 2 Way glue applicator.

The phrases and shapes were sized on the Gypsy and cut with the Expression for each page. I was able to use scrapes of paper in my stash. All the layers were adhered using Zig 2 Way glue applicators.

The covers of the book were cut from cardboard at nine and a half (9 1/2) by seven and a half (7 1/2) using a Fiskars paper trimmer and the corners were rounded using the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chromper. DCWV pastel paper was cut the same way and run through the Xyron to adhere to the cardboard cover.

The We R Memory Keepers Cinch was used to bind the book. The decorative chipboard letters on the cover of the book I bought at least five years ago and I don't know who to credit.

Birthday Card for My Daughter-in-law

This 6 X 6 card was made using a sketch from Peachy Keen Stamps for a challenge. The card must contain a metallic element, circle and ribbon. I used metallic paper as the shadow for the sentiment. The Birthday Girl sentiment and the scalloped rings are from the Cricut Storybook cartridge. The card is embossed using the Cuttlebug Oriental Weave embossing folder on the front and using the Cuttlebug embossing folder Created For You With Love on the back.

The outside corners of the front and back of the card were rounded.

DCWV Latte Metallic paper was used for the shadowing of the letters. The sentiment is attached to the card with pop ups to give a 3D effect.

The scalloped rings are partially glued down enabling the ribbon to be weaved through the rings.

Close up of the bow and button with thread, as well as some of the embossing.

Inside view of the card showing how a slit was put into the fold of the card to accommodate the ribbon.

Angelica's 1st Birthday Card

My baby granddaughter Angelica is going to be celebrating her first bithday on January 4th. With the Provocraft Gypsy and Expression I was able to design a cake shaped card for her.

Card and Envelope

Using the Gypsy and the Celebration cartridge I was able to make a cake shaped card by welding the #1 shadow to each cake shadow then welding the flipped cake shadow back to the cake shadow front. Deep Pink (DCWV) cardstock was used.

The cake was cut in a pastel Pink (DCWV). For the layered white frosting White (DCWV) was used and the edges inked with Rangers Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

The cake parts were embossed using the Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug folders Polka Dots (pink) and Divine Swirl (white). The #1 is embellished with Ranger Stickles Cotton Candy.

Storybook cartridge was used for the Birthday Girl sentiment.

The A7 envelope was made using the Martha Stewart Scoreboard and  K & Company paper.

Musical Birthday Card

Today is my sister Carol's birthday. Her favorite color is green and she loves to write lyrics for songs. She has been writing lyrics since she was a teenager. Even though she has not had any success getting them set to music or published, this year at 60+ Carol decided to go to college for the first time to study music theory. I'm very happy and proud of her.

Using the Gypsy with George & Basic Shapes and Gypsy Wanderings cartridges, I designed an A6 card for her. The two layers, sentiment, musical notes and shadows were cut using the Cricut Expression . The envelope was made using the Martha Stewart Scoreboard. I have submitted this card to MyPink Stamper for her challenge this week.

Cardstock: Bazzill Basic ( base and the shadow); Wausau ( musical notes, Happy Birthday and inside card) and DCWV Latte Stack ( envelope), Paper: DCWV Christmas Combo Matstack and K & Company, Punch: Martha Stewart Swirling Lace, Cuttlebug and Folder Allegro, Ink: Ranger Distress Tea Dye, Adhesive: ATG; Zig 2-Way; GlueDot mini and Provocraft Terrifically Tacky Tape, Ribbon: Offray

Free as a Bird

This layout was made using many pieces of scrap cardstock. The window panes in the window are a piece of the cartridge packaging. The cut shapes of the photos were done with a Fiskars Template and Shapes Cutter tool that I had bought at least five years ago. This was the first time I have ever used it. And I found it quite easy to use with very little effort. The window and the oval cut bird in the tree are elevated with Pop Glue Dots.

Products used Cardstock (DCWV, AC Cardstock, The Paper Company); Paper (K & Company); Provo Craft (Gypsy, Cricut Expression, Serenade, Christmas, Graphically Speaking and Printing 101); Tools (Fiskars template and shape cutter)

Birthday Card for My Sister

I have one sister who was born on my 3rd birthday in June many years ago. She is very special, because fourteen years ago she became a heart recipient and is doing very well. She has always loved being fashionable, so I couldn't resist making this birthday card and envelope for her.

I designed the card using the Gypsy with Cricut cartridges Forever Young and Ashlyn's Alphabet. The shapes and wordings for the card were cut using the Cricut Expression. Embossing was done with the Cuttlebug and a Cuttlebug folder. The envelope was made with the aid of a Martha Stewart Scoring board.

Products used  Cardstock: The Paper Company, DCWV(La Creme and At Home); Paper: K & Company; Acetate:from packaging; Rhinestone: Studio 18; Gel Pen: Sakura; Ribbon( I don't know)

April Showers

Today's blog is the fulfillment for the Monday challenge on the blog Fantabulouscricut. It took me some time to get the layout done, but it allowed me to use some of the supplies I have had for years, such as chalk and rubons. As I was doing this layout, I learned a few things along the way. I had designed the layout using Design Studio one evening while watching TV. Yes, I'm usually on the laptop while I watch TV. You know killing two birds with one stone thingy. I learned how to do welding on the Design Studio. Yesterday I learned how to transfer the file from Design Studio to the Gypsy. The other thing I learned on the Gypsy was how to identify the thing on your layout design that doesn't have a downloaded cartridge.  I used the Cricut Expression and cut out  all the shapes from one layout. This layout has also been linked to another blog challenge at Cricutters Anonymous.
