Birthday for 6 Year Old Grandson

My youngest grandson celebrated his 6th birthday on March 20th. He loves music and dancing. So I decided to make him a guitar card that is a banner. After making the guitar banner, I decided I wanted something that was more like a card as well, so I made a turtle card. Both cards were designed on the Gypsy and cut using the Cricut Expression.

Fifteen guitars (Paper Dolls for Everyday cartridge) were needed. The opening in the guitar was eliminated by using the hide feature of the Gypsy, then I copied it thirteen more times. The edges of  all the guitars were highlighted with brown ink. One of the altered guitars was welded to the the first guitar (front of the card) with the useful help of a small rectangle (George and Basic Shapes cartridge). Using the Crop-a-dile 1/8 eyelets were added to each guitar. Hemp was knotted to maintain spacing and thread through the eyelets. The letters and number 6 (Lyrical Letters cartridge) were then glued to the guitars.

The circle in the guitar and the number 6 were outlined with stickles to add a little bling.

This turtle card is large at 10 X 5 1/4. It is from the Cricut Create A Critter cartridge page 64. I used the hide feature of the Gypsy to eliminate the facial features, because I wanted to use a Peachy Keen stamp.

To make it a shaped card I used the Gypsy. With two turtles on the screen mat, I flipped one and welded the backs and heads together. On a second screen mat I had the image of the turtle and the turtle shell. The turtle was inked and embossed with the Cuttlebug Japanese Scales folder. The turtle shell edges were inked and embossed with the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder. Cute Peachy Keen 490  1 3/8" face was stamped to make the cutest happy turtle. The happy birthday sentiment stamp I don't recall the manufacturer.

Anniversary Card for Grandson

Two years ago my oldest grandchild was married to a very nice woman in San Diego. The bridal colors were a shade of grey and there was a pale yellow in the bouquets. The card was designed using the hand-held Gypsy.

Layers: Dark Grey 6 X 6
            Lt Grey  5.75 X 5.75 Cricut George & Basic Shapes cartridge
            Yellow 5.50 X 5.50 Embossed with Cuttlebug Kassie's Brocade folder using Cuttlebug. Corners   
            are rounded using We R Memory Chomper(1/4"). Cricut George & Basic Shapes cartridge
Number 2 and font are Cricut Lyrical Letters cartridge, they are embellished with Rangers Silver Stickles.   
Ribbon: Michaels Shades of Grey 

The sentiment is a Fiskars clear stamp that was stamped with Tsukineko Graphite Black ink on a scalloped rectangle cut with a Fiskars Shape Cutter. The rectangle edges were inked with Rangers Distress Weathered Wood Ink.

Martha Stewart scoreboard was used to make the 6 X 6 envelope using Wausau cardstock, The flap of the envelope is decorated with a Fiskars border punch.

Decorating Books For Faithbooking

The second Saturday in April Tammy Skinner introduced Faithbooking to the blog followers on Cuttlebug Challenge. You might wonder what is Faithbooking , well to quote Tammy it is as follows: What is scrapbooking? Everyone knows that one, right? It's the preservation of our memories for generations to come.Well, that is exactly what faithbooking is too. That and so much more. In faithbooking, not only are you preserving  those memories...but you are sharing a piece of your spirit with your future generations.

I found this very inspiring. So the next day, I headed to Michaels to buy a $1.00 journal and a $5.99 album. Yesterday I did a little decorating of the books, so I would be ready for the next in series of lessons tomorrow. The album is a Recollections Damask. I did the designing using the Gypsy and  Lyrical Letters for the word saying as well as the butterflies. They were all cut using the Original cricut. Paper: DCWV Pastel with white core and AC Cardstock. The ribbons are Sugar n' Spice(butterflies) and Bobbin(Blessings). Embossing was done using the Cuttlebug and Divine Swirls folder. The embossing was sanded with a MM fine sanding block.

April Showers

Today's blog is the fulfillment for the Monday challenge on the blog Fantabulouscricut. It took me some time to get the layout done, but it allowed me to use some of the supplies I have had for years, such as chalk and rubons. As I was doing this layout, I learned a few things along the way. I had designed the layout using Design Studio one evening while watching TV. Yes, I'm usually on the laptop while I watch TV. You know killing two birds with one stone thingy. I learned how to do welding on the Design Studio. Yesterday I learned how to transfer the file from Design Studio to the Gypsy. The other thing I learned on the Gypsy was how to identify the thing on your layout design that doesn't have a downloaded cartridge.  I used the Cricut Expression and cut out  all the shapes from one layout. This layout has also been linked to another blog challenge at Cricutters Anonymous.
