Tinker Bell Just Because

A just because card I made for my youngest granddaughter to put in a package I’m sending her.

 

This is a large card 6 X 12 inches. The card base is Wausau cardstock. All of the remaining paper and cardstock are from my stash. Rubons from my stash were used for the sentiments.

 

Using the Gypsy and the Tinker Bell & Friends cartridge, I cut the Iridessa  character (page 60) and mushroom (page 69)  and all their components at 5.98 inches width by 5.47 inches height with the Cricut Expression. All the parts were adhered with Zig 2 Way and Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

 

Close up of the mushroom and grass. The grass is made using the Alterations Tim Holtz Tapered Fringe die. The paper flowers are from my stash with gems by LYB.

 

Close up of Iridessa, she is popped up with  Scotch Foam Mounting Tape. The fringed layer of her wings is EK Success Laura Ashley vellum. The butterflies are from K & Company. Various markers were used for accents such as Sakura Gelly Roll and Zig Millennium. A little Glossy Accents was used on the pupils.

 

50th Birthday Card

My nephew celebrated his 50th birthday at the beginning of September. As usual I made a card for him. The card is 6 X 6 with four layers on the front.


 The papers are from DCWV. The gold glitter paper is from my stash, so I'm not sure who is the manufacturer. I embossed the black denim with a Cuttlebug birthday folder, then I sanded it with a Tim Holtz sander.
The fonts used are from Cricut cartridges Birthday Cakes and Elegant Cakes for the 50th and Birthday Cakes for the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Machines used Cricut Expression, Gypsy and Sizzix Big Shot. ATG and Zig 2 Way adhesives were used.

28th Anniversary Card for my Oldest Daughter and Her Husband

My oldest daughter and her husband will be celebrating their 28th anniversary this weekend. Purple is her favorite color, so the colors for the bridal party were lilac for the women and grey for the men. So it is time to make them a card.

I made this shaped card with the Cricut Expression using the Cricut Sweetheart cartridge. I am also using the card for this week’s Fantabulous Cricut ChallengeWebsite challenge to make a shaped card.

Using the Gypsy the hearts(5.46 inches X 4.62 inches each) were welded together.

The sentiment( 2.89 inches X 1.27 inches) was welded to overlay heart( 5.46 inches X 4.62 inches) at the “A” and “y” of Anniversary.

 

The contrasting color of the sentiment was cut at the same size as the welded sentiment.

I was able to see how it would look all put together with the use of my newly acquired Scrap n’ Easel.

Because I didn’t want the white edging to show all edges were inked using the Gelly Roll purple pen.

It needed some bling, so I embellished the overlay heart with Viva Pearl Pen Ice White pearls.

That looks better, but it needed a bow, so I used some of Martha Stewart’s lace ribbon.

The inside of the card needed some decoration, so I fussy cut some flowers from the beautiful DCWV Mademoiselle Stack that was also used for the base of the card.


Because the bottom of the heart card is pointed, the card can not stand open. So I made a base for the card by fussy cutting some of that same beautiful embossed paper, folded it and cut a slit in the fold so the card could be inserted. And I added a couple of paper braces to the inside of the stand for stability.

The envelope was made from K & Company paper using the Martha Stewart Scoreboard. The inside of the stand is stamped with my signature stamp.

I used several adhesives: Zig 2 Way, ATG and GlueDot PopUp(to adhere the overlay heart to the card base).

Patriotic Mini Book

There are several challenges this week/month to make something in red, white and blue in celebration of America’s Independence. On the Fantabulous Blog there is a Red White and Blue Cricut Crawl. Over on Mema's Crafts there is an all month challenge. And at SOC Sista//Brotha Blogger Week 28 challenge is display red white and blue.


I chose to make this 3 X 3 mini book using papers from the Authentique PRIDE collection 6 X 6 pad. The pages for the book are made from one 12 X 12 piece of DCWV(Stack 7) paper (Tutorial  by Tracy’s Treasures24 part 1 & part 2)

The postage stamp frames are from Cricut cartridge Elegant Edges ( page 37) cut at 2.75 inches by 2.75 inches. I used the Gypsy to get the exact size and the Cricut Expression.

The placards and postcards were scissor cut from the Authentique PRIDE paper. The placards on the front and back covers are elevated using Recollections Foam Squares.

Red/White and Blue/White Twine by American Crafts were used for the closure.

Edges are inked using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Blue Gems by Want2Scrap are adhered to both sides of the tags. The toppers for the tags were the leftover pieces cut from the inside of the postage stamp frames folded in half. (nothing goes to waste) LOL

I used many adhesives. Terrifically Tacky Red tape to adhere the pages together to form the pockets and to paper outside of the covers. Glue Glider Pro to adhere the covers to the book. Zig 2 Way to adhere the postage stamp frames to the pages and Scotch 2-Way to adhere toppers on the tags.

Postage Stamp Birthday Card

This 6 X 6 inches postage stamp birthday card was made for my son-in-law who will be celebrating a significant birthday next week.

The card was designed using the Gypsy and cut with the Expression. Cricut cartridge Elegant Edges( page 37) was used for the stamp. The stamp and the frame were cut at 5.50 X 5.50 inches.

Happy Birthday(Simply Charmed cartridge) was cut at 3.51 X 1.90 inches and the facial features were highlighted with ink.
The "50"(Birthday Cakes cartridge) was cut at 0.48 X 0.76 inches and “th”(Birthday Cakes cartridge) was cut at  0.45 X 0.65 inches.


The edges of the sentiment were inked with tea dye TH Distress Ink. Then they were enhanced with Glossy accents.


The stamp frame is adhered to the stamp base with 3D foam squares.

Butterfly Birthday Card

This week my granddaughter-in-law is celebrating a birthday. This card is 6 X 6 inches.

The three inch butterfly and layer were found on the Cricut Picturesque cartridge( page 65). The paper used for the top layer of the butterfly is DCWV that I had in my scrap stash. It is a piece of paper that I considered to be ugly from one of the stacks. As you can see once it was cut as a butterfly, it is quite beautiful. The lower layer of the butterfly is also DCWV that was also in my scrap stash. The two layers of the butterfly are adhered together only in the area of the body, so the wings of the upper butterfly could be lifted to give it more life. Martha Stewart pearl stickers were used to embellish the butterfly.

 

 

All edges of the card and cuttings have been inked. The edges of the main card base were first distressed with a distressor before being inked.

 

For years I have owned a handheld sewing machine, so I decided to use it for the very first time on the mat under the butterfly.

Blue Tow Truck Birthday Card

My youngest grandson celebrated his 8th birthday this week, so I made this tow truck birthday card for him.

This shaped card was made from the Cricut Nate’s ABCs cartridge(page 35) with the “birthday” from the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge(page 27) weld onto the hook using the Provocraft Gypsy and cut using the Provocraft Expression. It is a large card. The tow truck is 9.78 X 5.99 and the “birthday is 3.63 X 1.82. The hubcaps and “8” are adhered to both sides of the card.

To make the shaped tow truck I weld the truck roofs of two trucks together using the weld feature of the Gypsy. And I weld the “birthday” to another single tow truck. All the edges were inked with Distress Ink(tea dye or stormy sky).

After cutting the pieces the welded truck was folded. A windowpane was cut with scissors by hand from the acetate wrapping used for cartridge packing. Then the windowpane was glued between the welded truck and the truck with the birthday” welded truck. The chipboard “8” was adhered with ATG adhesive.

The “birthday” was blinged with Dark Blue stickles.

The door handle and the hood vents are drawn with Black Diamond stickles.
The tires were painted black with a black Sharpie. The hubcaps were yellow plastic washer like disks. I used Sail Boat Blue alcohol ink to change them to blue. They were attached to the card with ATG adhesive.

PARTY HAT BIRTHDAY CARD

Another grandson will be celebrating his (19th) birthday next week. I once again used the Cricut Celebrations cartridge.



The card base(5 1/2 X 6 1/2) is Core’dinations Black Magic Collection that I embossed with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder and Cuttlebug machine. I distressed it with the Tim Holtz sanding block.

DCWV paper was used for the diecuts cut with the Cricut Expression. The party hat on page 105 of the Celebrations cartridge was cut at 4 inches. The sentiment(page 125) was cut at 1 3/4 inches.

“Happy Birthday” stamp by Recollections was stamped with Momento Black ink.




The Fiskars clear stamp phrase was stamped with Momento Black ink. Fiskars Shape Templates were used to cut the ovals.

Present Birthday Card

A card made for my second grandson, who celebrates his 23rd birthday this week. I used the Provocraft Cricut Expression and the Celebrations cartridge.

The Kraft paper 6 X 6 card edges were distressed using the Tim Holtz distressor and sanding block. Than the edges were inked with Tim Holtz stormy sky distress ink.

The present diecuts were cut at 4 inches from the Celebrations cartridge(page 114) using the Expression and DCWV paper.

The sentiment was cut at 3/4 inch using the Expression and the Celebrations cartridge(page 126).


The quote stamped on the inside of the card was done using Fiskars clear stamps and Tsukineko Black Memento ink.

Minnie Mouse Birthday Card

Valentine’s Day my great granddaughter Malia celebrated her second birthday. For her  birthday I created this Minnie Mouse birthday card using the Cricut Imagine print diecutting machine and Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge(page 59).

White Bazzill Basic Cardstock and RGB colors for Minnie were used. The Minnie on the front of the card and all the layers were cut at 4.5 inches. Minnie’s bow was embellished with Rangers Glam Pink Stickles. Her bow and hands were adhered with Popups. The Minnie and layers on the inside of the card were cut at 3.5 inches.

The sentiment and shadow were cut using Fiskars cardstock at 1 inch using the Cricut Expression machine and Martha Stewart Birthday Cake Art cartridge(page 55).
White cardstock from The Paper Company was embossed with the Cuttlebug Seeing Spots embossing folder using a Provocraft Cuttlebug machine.
